Blog Changes

I'm excited to be back online! It's been too long. I've thought a lot about my blog the last few months and I think some changes need to be made. Instead of focusing on just style, I'm going to focus on LIFEstyle. That way I can include more of my feelings, my family and my work. I don't know that it will be more interesting, but I know it will be more fulfilling for me.

I hope you stick around for the changes!

Halloween Makeup Recap

I'm a Halloween fan. Not of decorating, not of candy, but of costumes. Oh, how I love dressing up for Halloween.

We normally have a church function on or near Halloween that we dress up for, but this year I had three events to attend. I couldn't just go as the same thing to each one, so I used makeup to make my costumes unique.

First was the couples' party. We went as Bob Ross and his happy little tree! Here's my normally blond husband with his afro wig and me with my a-ma-zing makeup done by Alison at the MAC counter. A few people knew what we were right off the bat. Others needed some 'splaining.

Next was Bunco. I wasn't about to be a tree without Bob (let alone do that crazy makeup myself), so I dressed up as a comic book drawing. I was supposed to have red dots all over my face a la Lichtenstein, but I ran out of time. Alas.

Finally, for our church chili dinner and trunk or treat, I intended to go as a flapper. I ended up looking more like a black and white silent film star. The kiddos at the party were stumped as to what I was supposed to be. One insisted I was a punk rocker. Not sure how many punk rockers wear pleated skirts and heels, but hey, whatever works!

What were you for Halloween this year?

Downeast Basics in Tooele

I was invited to my first blogger event by Downeast Basics. They recently opened a store in Tooele and held a sweet little event for a few of us local gals that blog in this neck of the woods.

Can you believe that through the entire evening, I took one picture? One! That shows how distracted I get by clothes. I checked out the picture. It's blurry.

So instead of sharing my blurry pic, I thought I'd share a few of my favorite items from the night via pictures from Downeast's website.

Forever Fond TopI actually bought this little ditty. It's long and super stretchy so it covers my baby belly really well.

Steamboat JacketI think this jacket is adorable. So much so, I made my sister buy it! ;)

B Sides ShortMy friend that came to the event with me bought a pair of shorts for her Disneyland trip next week. I love that they have shorts year-round. Sometimes you need some destination clothing in the middle of winter.

Wild One BagThey even have purses, jewelry, scarves and belts. Lucky for us, ALL their accessories are currently on sale in-store and online. Visit a store near you or enter code BLING30 online to receive 30% off your accessory purchase. I'm not sure how long this sale will last, so shop quick!

A big thanks to Downeast for inviting me to this event!

This post was not in any way sponsored by Downeast Basics. Just wanted to give them a shoutout for inviting me to the blogger event!

Meet Floyd — a "monster" of a wreath

In an attempt to decorate for Halloween, I scoured my Pinterest boards for some inspiration. I have a "scary" wreath made by my amazing SIL, but I love it so much I don't dare put it on my front door for fear it will get ruined. I kept coming back to this wreath made by Baby Rabies. Who doesn't love an adorable Muppet-like monster?

He's made from tulle. One-hundred yards to be exact. Tied around a wreath form just like you would a tutu. I love a good no-sew project! I ordered my tulle from here since I couldn't find green locally.

I think my favorite part are his foam teeth. They give him personality. So much personality, he deserved a name. Thus, meet Floyd.

Can't wait to enjoy Floyd throughout the month. He makes me smile.

If you make your own Floyd, let me know!

I'm Ba-ack…

My break has been a lot longer than I thought. But I have a good reason…

I'm preggers!

We found out about a week after my last post. A surprise, but a welcome one. We'll be welcoming #3 in February. Even though I'm 5 months along, I feel like I'm about 15 months.

Since my brain is in my uterus right now, I won't be posting very often, but I will be posting. So stay tuned!
