Adele-Inspired Grammy Makeup Tutorial

We've done the hair, now on to the makeup!

Adele's red carpet look was classic pinup. It's all about the winged eyeliner and a bold, red lip. Everything else was toned down so those two things would pop.

Here's my take on it thanks to my model, and niece, Ashley.

Step 1. Use foundation and concealer to create a flawless canvas.
Step 2. Powder your face for a matte finish.
Step 3. Lightly contour underneath your cheekbones with a powder one or two shades darker than your natural color.
Step 4. Cover eyelid with an eye shadow primer or cream shadow.
Step 5. Apply a nude eye shadow from lashes to brows.
Step 6. Using a gel eyeliner and a fine brush, line your upper lid. Starting at the inner corner of your eye, work your way across the lid and out to create a wing. Continue applying liner until you achieve your desired thickness.
Step 7. Line the lower lid with a black pencil liner, smudging to blend with a brush or Q-tip. Apply mascara to top and bottom lashes. Add a set of false demi lashes, if desired.
Step 8. Use a red lipliner to line and fill in lips.
Step 9. Apply red lipstick. Blot and pat with powder for a matte lip.

Here's the finished face and a closer shot of the eyeliner. I direct the wing toward the end of the eyebrow. It seems to give enough of a swoop and makes it easier for me to get both eyes even.
