I've tried this one and need to try it again now that I played with the technique a little. It definitely gives you volume.

Kate has a ton of hair tutorials for medium/short hair. She's a professional hairstylist so she definitely has some tricks up her sleeve!

The Beauty Department's Piece-y Pony

This is a newer tutorial, but so many people have pinned it, I had to include it. It's a twist (literally) on the standard ponytail.
