Skinz Nail Wrap – How-to and Review

 

 I think I had these nail wraps in my bathroom closet for two months before I finally got them out this weekend. I'm not sure why I waited so long, but I'm glad I finally used them!

These are Skinz by Babe nail wraps. If you've never heard of a nail wrap before, they are an easy way to get nail art and can be applied on natural, acrylic or gel nails. (I'm still not sure what they're made of, but I'll keep searching.)

Skinz offers 37 different styles on their site, but I couldn't resist buying the Treasure Island in white and silver.

Each package of Skinz comes with a sheet of 24 nail wraps in varying sizes. We selected this one since it was closest to the size of the nail we were applying it to.

It takes about 20-30 seconds on a high-heat blowdryer setting to activate the adhesive.

After heated, it peels right off the backing.

The curve of the wrap fits just right against the curve of the cuticle. I started at one side of the nail and pressed down as I went across to the other side. Skinz suggests pressing even more with a rubber cuticle pusher, but since I didn't have one, I used my thumbnail to get all the bubbles out.

Trimming some of the extra wrap makes it a lot easier to file.

Once we filed off the excess wrap from the nail, we were left with this.

Pretty sweet, eh?

I'm unsure as to how long they actually last since they were just applied 3 days ago. I'll give you an update if they are lame or outstanding!

PROS

• Skinz are sturdy. Some nail wraps are super thin and are difficult to adhere to the nail without bubbling.
• With 37 patterns/colors of wraps, you won't get bored.
• There are 24 wraps per pack, so you could do your toes to match your fingers or ration them with accent nails.
• No drying time, smudging, or chipping.
• No polish remover needed. Just peel the wrap from the side off the nail.

CONS

• There were NO instructions in or on the Skinz packaging. Not even a web address. I had to Google the company to find their website and look up how to apply them.
• As far as I can tell, they're not available for purchase to non-licensed professionals. I suggest doing a search on their site for salons if you're interested in trying them.
